What is the walkaway woman syndrome? More and more, men are reporting being 'blindsided' by what's being labeled as the 'walkaway woman syndrome'. In a nutshell, as the marriage begins, the wife tries desperately to reach her husband and build the communication link in the marriage. Often times, the husband withdraws and the partnership is strained. The more the wife tries to get her husband's attention, the more he withdraws. He sees her as nagging him about various aspects of the marriage. At some point, the wife gives up but is unwilling to end the marriage due to issues of child-raising or financial support. As such, she begins to plot her 'exit-strategy'. She decides that when some milestone event is reached, she will then end the marriage. All the while, the man is happy as can be. He is cruising through life thinking they have "worked everything out". She isn't nagging anymore, in fact, she says very little.... great! The husband thinks everything is going well in his marriage. Then the bombshell. The wife files for divorce and the husband staggers from this announcement. Desperate, he diligently tries to restore the marriage. But at this point, she has been plotting her exit for so long, she is no longer interested in reconciliation. Her mind changed long ago and she's not even open to considering any option other than divorce. Does this scenario fit your marriage? How is the health of your communication in your relationship? Maybe you should learn more about this phenomenon at the Divorce Busting center.
